July 29 – Jim Baxter
Jim has been making a racket in bars all over Western Canada since he was nineteen and has been based out of Calgary for the last thirty five years. His musical journey has led him to explore many styles, ranging from classic rock to traditional country to blues, R&B and forays into jazz standards. Highlights include opening slots for George Strait, Tom Wilson, and Jerry Doucette. The last few years have seen him exploring acoustic horizons with the same eclecticism, mastering lap steel, and releasing an album, Tomfoolery, in 2013. He has been the host of the Sunday night jam at the Lighthouse Pub in Calgary for nearly twelve years, and continues to mentor a dozen or so students in music in his home in Strathmore, Alberta.
