Extended Trip to Big Valley & Hideaway Plus Free Mo Railway Final Day (Steam)
Travel to the Village of Big Valley and spend some time exploring the history of a once-booming railway town, including a fully restored 1912 Canadian Northern Railway station, the blue church on the hill – St. Edmund’s, vintage automobiles, trucks, and household artifacts at McAlister’s Garage Museum, and the Vintage Tool and Collectibles Museum. Remember to take some time to join the Calgary Free-Mo Club on their final day hosting the 23rd annual Alberta Free-Mo Show at the Big Valley Arena. This is a group of HO-scale railway modelers who build their own modules and then connect them together to form a large layout that is never the same twice. After re-boarding the train for the return journey to Stettler, you will stop at the Country Hideaway for a Hideaway Family Picnic to enjoy a delicious all-you-can-eat feast featuring chicken drumsticks, ribs, hot dogs, and bison burgers, along with chuckwagon beans, coleslaw, and freezies for dessert. Take part in in hay wagon rides, lively on-site entertainment, barrel train rides, classic carnival games, and rubber duck races. Be on the lookout for the mischievous Reynolds Raiders, who have been known to rob passing trains!
