Free-Mo Trains Special – Big Valley
Each year modellers ceate one of the largest model train layouts of its tyope in North America. Participants arrange modeules, level the the entire thing to create beach work covering most of the floor of the Big Vallley arena. This trip includes full course buffet style Alberta roast of beef meal at hall in Big Valley, live entertainment both in the coaches and in the Lone Star Saloon on board the train. In Big Valley there is time to visit Jimmy Jock Boardwalk and explore a fully restored 1912 Canadian Northern railway station, the blue church on the hill – St. Edmund’s, the McAlister Motors community museum. The Big Valley Hand-tool and Collectables Museum, the Big Valley Museum on rails, and the roundhouse and elevator interpretive centres are must sees. A dinosaur on the loose could make things interesting. Mine payroll on board increases danger of being hit by the Reynolds Raiders horse-mounted outlaw gang.
